Building a Business and Babies: A Mompreneur's Journey

Juggling social media marketing, entrepreneurship, and motherhood is not for the faint of heart. Some days, I feel like I’m absolutely thriving—closing deals, creating content, and growing my business. Other days, I’m just trying to keep my kids entertained while responding to emails with one hand and reheating my coffee for the fifth time. The reality is that there’s no perfect balance, only prioritization. I started my business not just to make money, but to have the freedom to raise my kids without missing the small moments. That freedom, however, comes with its own set of challenges.
Social media marketing is an incredible tool for business growth, and one of the best things about it is that it levels the playing field. It doesn’t matter if you’re a small business owner working from your kitchen table or a well-established brand with a big budget—everyone has access to the same platforms and opportunities. The key is to show up consistently, engage with your audience, and create content that is valuable and authentic. Perfection isn’t necessary; in fact, it’s overrated. People don’t connect with a flawless highlight reel, they connect with realness. As a mom, I don’t have time for every post to be polished and curated to perfection. I create when I can, schedule when I need to, and stay focused on the long-term goal—building relationships and growing my brand.
Entrepreneurship has taught me to embrace flexibility in a way I never imagined. I might have a full day planned out for client meetings, content creation, and strategy sessions, but then one of my kids gets sick, the babysitter cancels, or an urgent client request throws everything off schedule. Instead of stressing over what didn’t get done, I’ve learned to pivot. I’ve taken client calls with a toddler on my hip and edited videos in the school pickup line. Some days, my business takes priority. Other days, I have to step away and be fully present as a mom. The key is to give myself grace and remind myself why I started this journey in the first place.
Building a business takes time. It’s easy to look at others on social media and feel like you’re behind, but success doesn’t happen overnight. Just like raising kids, entrepreneurship requires patience, consistency, and a lot of trial and error. There are weeks where everything falls into place and I feel like I’m making incredible progress. Then there are weeks where it feels like nothing is moving forward. But I remind myself that every post, every connection, and every lesson learned adds up over time. Growth isn’t always obvious in the moment, but if you stay committed, you’ll see the results.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that I have to build a business that fits my life, not the other way around. There was a time when I thought I had to do everything—post daily, chase every trend, and work around the clock. But that’s not sustainable, especially as a mom. Now, I focus on what works for me. I set realistic goals, I create a schedule that allows me to be present for my kids, and I remind myself that I don’t have to do it all at once. Some days, I feel like I’m crushing it, and other days, I feel like I’m just trying to keep up. Both are okay. What matters is that I keep going.
To all the moms out there building businesses while raising babies, you are doing something incredible. It won’t always be easy, but it will always be worth it. Keep showing up, keep pushing forward, and most importantly, give yourself grace in the process. Success isn’t just about how much your business grows—it’s about creating a life that allows you to be present for what matters most.
